The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to develop a TTRPG set within the series' apocalyptic setting. The project was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to launch in April of 2026.

"This project will bring the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the tabletop, providing fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," states an announcement.

Launch products will include a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Dystopian World

In this setting, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was released in New York City, sending the United States into turmoil. As the pandemic escalates, society crumbles and violent factions rise, transforming the urban landscape into a battlefield. To preserve law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. This is where the agents come in.

Work on the game has been in progress for about several years, and it is reportedly finished. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a preorder system to reach a wider audience, specifically in the United States. Production is slated to begin right after the fundraiser, with deliveries projected for the latter part of 2026.

An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

A preview at the system reveals it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, promoting a streamlined and tactical approach. Agents leverage skills or traits to assemble small dice pools, typically from one to five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, players choose a single “resolution die” from the pool.
  • This die is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Achieving a perfect 10 grants additional bonuses, such as extra damage or boosted support.

Combat Emphasize Positioning and Situational Insight

Battles prioritize placement and environmental awareness, reflecting the source material. Factors like cover, height advantage, or visibility have a direct impact success chances. This system is designed to reward teamwork and clever tactics over raw numbers.

A Thematic Health Mechanic

The way injuries is managed introduces a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage reduces their capabilities by decreasing the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an agent collapses, but they’re not knocked out.
  2. They can still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the "downed" state common to many shooter games.
  3. Any player in this state must roll on a injury chart, potentially gaining persistent effects like shock or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Adventure

A publicly available introductory rulebook will be released soon. It includes a ready-to-play introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group lead the search for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an attack by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the full range of offerings will be unveiled closer to the campaign launch.
