🔗 Share this article The network's Leading New Show of 2025 Secures a Significant Extension for Two More Seasons. During the fall season, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the channel introduced a completely new animated series with a strikingly different feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, evoking a animated take of a serene talk show. In an era often characterized by dark humor, this show's earnestness resonated deeply and turned it into a surprise hit. A Significant Investment In mid-December, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the world of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three polite teenage brothers whose central trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four key characters. "I’m so grateful to the audience of the show who welcomed the series and helped it grow," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for a little longer." A President's Endorsement In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who discovered the show and championed its distinctly quirky sensibility. "All of you got behind this new show, championed for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Different Kind of Comedy Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about observing this charming family go about their simple existence. In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his desire to help comedy break out of its prevailing cynical streak. He linked this trend to various cultural shifts. “It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.” What Comes Next Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa has the opportunity to help usher in that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal guarantees audiences more opportunities to enjoy the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan. The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The entire series is ready to watch on HBO Max.
